When I was a student at the University of Tsukuba, I rented a small house in an area a short distance from the university. I turned one room into my studio and displayed the name "Jun Kitazawa Office Kurihara " on the nameplate of the house. Since that time, I've been focusing on the importance of where I put myself, and I've been able to put a combined name of "place name" and "office" on the property where I'm based. This name was a declaration of experimenting with projects in the local area and also raised the issue that social practice by artists should be a "work" in society.
